In the past couple of weeks, I have created and developed a practical checklist that can be used to design effective assessments. This assessment design checklist has evolved from my initial 1.0 design and has passed through several iterations to a final set of 5 questions.
The process of creating my checklist is very much like the design process itself. More importantly, while developing my checklist I realized that this task was set up in the way I would like to be reflected in my future assessment designs. The ADC assessment was an integral part of the process of learning, where reading the theoretical foundations of assessment design, applying it in practical contexts, and receiving feedback, has allowed me to translate newly gained knowledge and establish evidence of understanding to answer my 5 questions.
Each question contains a distinct element of designing effective assessments. However, tying those questions to research and multiple sources, made it clear to me that these elements are very much connected and only when they are all applied will the outcome be a learning experience that is truly valuable.
